  1. Hi there. My husband and I are sticker shocked by this blender. Whoa. I really want one though after reading the reviews. I have been wanting to make my own bread…and I have my own bread maker (a gift from 20 years ago…never have used it, can’t find the instructions after moving so many times.) Anyway…my husband was wanting an ice-cream maker from cuisinart and we literally make a protein shake full of veggies and fruit everyday. Same story…they think it’s a milk shake but without the milk. I make lots of soup and it sounds like a dream. I cook a LOT DAILY and healthy. Which one would be good for me? How does the 5000 compare to the 5200? And, what is the difference from the Super and the the deluxe besides the amazing price tag? Thanks.

  2. Yes…. It is a bit of a sticker shock. However, if you truly use your blender a ton, most only last a year or two. Honestly most blender motors are not fit to chop ice and frozen fruits on a constant basis. I have the 5000 and it is just fine - the 5200 is just the newest model available. The deluxe includes the dry blade blender - to do flour and such, the regular container, and then a compact one. Plus some extra recipes and such. Hope that helps! If you add up replacing your regular blender every couple years, the price of the ice-cream maker, and health (priceless) then it is worth it… but yes you do have to save a bit for one for sure!

  3. Last night, I just purchased my first Vita-Mix (the newest 5200) with both wet and dry containers and can’t wait for it to arrive. My regular blender broke down yesterday after having it a few years (one of the blades snapped off) and I just couldn’t bring myself to buy another low-end blender again. I am motivated to become ‘more raw’ and the Vita-Mix was recommended by Alissa Cohen, raw expert/book writer and raw restaurant owner (Grezzo, Boston) as THE blender to have if you can afford it. I opted for this instead of replacing my 11yr old bike which still functions (the price is high but I know I’ll love it). My only concern is that I won’t be able to live w/out it when I go on my 2 week trip this fall. I wish I could rent one where I am going (FLA). Ever hear of being able to rent one? BTW, great articles and info. Thanks!
