Caramel Dipped Grapes
I’m a huge fan of caramel apples, but I only make them once every couple of years because they’re such a hassle. I recently had a bunch of grapes in the fridge that needed to get eaten, and I also had a package of caramel in the pantry. Inspiration hit, and I decided to dip the grapes in melted caramel. I absolutely adore salty/sweet combos, and the crushed peanuts in this recipe add the perfect finishing touch.
I probably should have doubled the recipe. These little grapes are ridiculously good, and they flew off the plate. They’re the perfect summer treat, and would be ideal for a summer picnic or potluck. It’s super easy for kids to help with parts of this recipe (although I’d keep them away from the hot caramel on the stove) – especially if you don’t like to unwrap caramels and want to outsource that job.
Caramel Dipped Grapes
- 90 green grapes
- 1 package of Kraft caramels (sold in the candy section at most supermarkets)
- 2 TBS heavy whipping cream
- 3/4 C salted peanuts, finely crushed
- 90 toothpicks
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Arrange grapes on a large platter or cutting board and insert a toothpick into each grape. Place crushed peanuts in a shallow dish. Remove wrappers from all the caramels.
Place the caramels and heavy whipping cream into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium low heat, stirring constantly, until caramels have completely melted. Dip each grape into the caramel and then immediately dip in the crushed peanuts. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
