Breakfast: Eggo’s and Banana Smoothies
Lunch: Leftover Spaghetti
Dinner: We ate out with a gift certificate. It still ended up being $22 after tip.
Dane had snacks for preschool today, so 12 kids and 2 adults. He took string cheese (I had a huge pack from Sam’s Club in the fridge) and some of those granola bars I bought last week for $1 a box. They provide milk, so that worked out perfect and we didn’t have to go out and buy anything special.
I ran to town with a friend this morning and we ran through the drive-thru at McDonalds – her treat. We tried the Caramel Frappe. I RARELY drink coffee… and it has to be like an iced one like that. But YUM! Good stuff. Unfortunately, since I so rarely drink caffine, I ended up shaky and with the worst headache this afternoon. It was good though!
I did buy bananas when I was out this morning – $1.50 – bringing my monthly grocery total up to $46.92. I still think if we come in under $100 by the end of the month, that is AMAZING for a family of six! We should be able to do that just fine I would think.
Have a GREAT weekend!

That’s pretty amazing! I keep showing the kids what we have spent (or not spent!) and that the month is almost over. Less than $20! Some holes in the pantry but we have two! Just shows what you can do! Tried Lentil tacos (from Hillybilly Housewife) though used ground beef too. Have never had lentils before and the kids were skeptical, but it was pretty good! Very healthy and lots of leftovers as it made alot! Great challenge!
Ate out for grandson’s birthday party today at lunch. Tonight’s meal was brisket sandwiches and potato salad. I had to stop at a local store for a huge produce sale and I really needed to add some fresh to what I already had.
lettuce–88 cents
oranges–10 for $1
apples–4 for $1
red potatoes–2 lbs. for $1
cucumbers–4 for $1
bananas–3 lbs. for $1
zucchini–4 for $1
grapefruit–4 for $1
Also got fresh spinach for 88 cents a bunch.
I stopped at the store yesterday to get OJ b/c it was on sale for $2.48 a gallon. Bought a roaster marked down to $2.99 and two pkgs. of bacon marked down to $1.69. I think total our family of 5 will spend less than $80 this month. Our freezer is getting nice holes in it and so is our pantry.
We did pickup our Angel Food box today as well. Glad I ordered it last month. Plan to order the fruit and veggie box from them for next month.
I made smoothie’s today, and yup I am proud to say the kids slurped them down and requested more. Thank you for the ideas and tips!! Now to save for the cool blender. Do you know if they would make just plain ice like slurpee’s, I love the ice but not the flavor so much.
