I'm just wondering if this approach really will benefit in the long run. If you are not purchasing much this month, you are also missing out on any good deals. For example, in our area (I'm from BC Canada) we have a super sale this week on chicken at one place and lean ground beef in another, just to name a few. It will be months before this sale comes again so I will be stocking up.

I'm frugal to the core....spending minimum on groceries for our family of seven and doing all our baking (bread/buns/cookies/cake etc.) My approach is this: keep stock in our pantry and three freezers on a constant rotating basis, while taking advantage of super deals. Just my approach that works for us. I enjoy reading of how others do this...

We are doing quite well with the freezer challenge. I have not bought anything meatwise this week. I made a quick pass through Aldi's and bought milk, eggs, produce and rice. I spent $15. I need sugar but it was $2.50 for 5lbs.
I made a list of dinner meals and posted it on our fridge. We have marked off 6 of the 7 meals. We are having the 7th one for lunch after church and left overs tonight. I will sit down today and make a new list for next week using what we already have. We actually have holes in the pantry now!
Thanks for the challenge!
