Frioto Candy

Salty and sweet are two of my favorite combinations.  Today’s recipe balances those tastes perfectly in my book.  It was super easy to make {you can even use your crock pot for part of it} and everyone loved it.  A unique twist on the candy bark served so often at the holidays.

Frito Candy

  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 (12 oz) bag chocolate chips
  • 2 cups crushed Fritos
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup peanuts

Line 13×9 pan with parchment paper, set aside.

In pot melt together butter, sugar, and chocolate chips over medium heat.   When melted together toss in crushed Fritos and pretzels until well coated.  Pour into prepared pan and spread out.  Sprinkle with peanuts.  Place in refrigerator for about an hour to cool and set up.  Break apart and enjoy!

Notes:  You could do the melting part in a 6 quart crockpot on high for about an hour.  Also, I think it was a bit too thick, so next time I’ll spread mine onto a cookie sheet instead to get it a little thinner.  Next time I’ll either omit the peanuts on top or toss with the chocolate because they didn’t “stay” when we broke it apart.
