Grandma’s Yummy Meatballs
Serves 4
Having trouble getting protein into your child’s diet? Then these sweet and savory melt-in-your mouth meatballs are just the ticket. Grandma’s secret to this kid-friendly dish is the sweetness from the apple and the tenderness the meatballs get from the milk and bread. This dish is a real kid pleaser!
Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef
3 ½ oz white bread (without crust)
1 cup 1% milk
1 egg
1 apple (cut in small pieces)
¾ tbsp of flour
3 tbsp parmesan cheese
2 tsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Let the bread soak in milk for a few minutes. In a bowl, mix bread soaked in milk, ground beef, egg, apple, parmesan cheese and salt. Make little balls out of the mix and pass the ball lightly in the flour. Warm a couple of teaspoons of olive oil in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat and let the meat balls cook until slightly brown, turning them constantly. Then, add the leftover milk from the bread soak and cook the meatballs over low heat for a few more minutes until ready.
Serve with favorite pasta.
