Hummus
If I had to pick a top 10 list of favorite foods, hummus would definitely make the cut. I think I could eat hummus every day without getting tired of it. It’s great on pita bread, turkey sandwiches, or even as a dip for fresh vegetables (and if you can convince your kiddos to eat it, it’s a nice alternative to ranch dressing for their carrots and celery sticks).
You can buy hummus at the grocery store, but it’s just as easy to make at home in your food processor. Tahini is sesame paste, and can be found in the international aisle at most grocery stores (or you can also find it at your local Asian or Indian market).
- 1 Can Chick Peas (Garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
- 1-2 cloves garlic
- 3 TBS lemon juice
- 3 TBS olive oil
- 1/4 C Tahini
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- paprika, for garnish
Combine everything except for paprika in a food processor. Blend until creamy. Place in serving dish and sprinkle with paprika for color.

I absolutely love hummus! I could eat it all the time, too, but, then I read the calories! Ack! Realized I was eating way too much of the stuff. LOL!
