I took a Pregnancy Test the Other Day (& Other Life Updates)

Hey!  How is your summer going?  I absolutely LOVE summer!  I used to say Fall is my favorite time of year (and I do still love the weather in the Fall) but I love the fun and relaxed pace of summer.  Glorious!

We enjoyed our inlaws visiting for two weeks.  It was a nice visit!  We just relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company.  We took a couple trips to the pool, a couple trips to town, the boys took a trip to “The Creation Museum”, Matt and I had date night while the grandparents babysat, and we celebrated Christian’s 10th Birthday.

Our garden is growing nicely!  Matt re-did the drip system and the plants are happy!  Last year our garden was kind of a flop, so we’re hoping for a better year!  We did mow down the strawberries and raspberries because they were just taken over by weeds and were not producing.  I think we need to start over with the strawberries – they say you need to do that every 3-5 years and ours have been in six years.  I’m sure the raspberries will come back, they are like noxious weeds – but we love them!  (It’s a love hate relationship).

Ryan, our 11 year old, has been gone more than he has been home!  He went on a weekend camping trip, and now is on a 9 day trip to Florida with the Boy Scouts.  I know he is having a great time, but I am really missing him!  He has never been gone that long!  They got the wi-fi fixed where they are staying, so we have been able to text the last couple days, which has helped my anxiety level a lot!  I remember around that age being away a lot in the summer.  I went to summer camp, stayed with grandparents etc.  I know it’s good for him to blossom on his own, but wow, as a mommy it is rough!

Next week we have Vacation Bible School here at our church.  We have a group of four college students come in to help run it.  We are housing the two boys, so I need to clean up the guest “room” in the basement before they arrive on Friday or Saturday.  Then after that, Sergiy arrives!

The kittens are getting huge!  Currently I am trying to convince them to not do their business on the front porch… You would think they would prefer dirt over cement… but apparently not.  They are super cute though!  See?

We have been enjoying working in the garden.  Last year the garden didn’t produce very well, so we are hoping for better results this year.  Matt re-did the drip irrigation system and it seems to be growing good at the moment!  We haven’t had much rain (which is not good for the farmers) so the plants have been thankful for the watering.  We ended up mowing down the raspberries and strawberries.  The raspberries were so full of weeds and wild trees that it was a hopeless cause – I’m sure they will grow back!  The strawberries need to be replanted I believe.  We have had them six years, and they say to replant every 3-5.

So, I took a pregnancy test the other night.  I was a bit late and just feeling a little “off”.  I was PANICKING!  We are generally very careful, but all things are possible.  Matt was much more relaxed about the whole situation.  (He’s such a great guy!)  We are not necessarily trying for any more, but we all know things can always change.  My biggest thing is the timing feels completely wrong – being as Sergiy is coming in a few weeks!  Thankfully it was NEGATIVE!  Matt said he had never seen a woman so happy to have her cycle start as I was when mine did!  he he

On a sad note, we lost a dear friend on Sunday Night.  He was an amazing man of God and a wonderful artist.  You can read about him here, and here, and listen to his music here.

Way to grab a person’s interest with a headline, Christine! ;) (And it got me to read all the way to the end of the blog post, too.)

Do you have a “countdown” plugin you can use on the blog so that we can count down to Sergiy’s arrival along with you?
