Our Family’s Favorite Cheeseburger
I love this time of year – as soon as it’s warm enough to cook outside on the grill, we have a cookout at least once a week. While we love to grill anything – corn, veggies, pizza, kabobs – a family favorite will always be hamburgers. It’s fun to get creative with the ingredients and the toppings, but if you’re looking for a simple weeknight meal using basic pantry ingredients, here’s one of our favorite recipes.
Tip: If you find it difficult to find chives at your supermarket, Target carries freeze dried chives in their produce section. They’re not quite as good as fresh chives, but they’re definitely better than dried chives – the measurements are the same as using fresh herbs.
Hamburgers
- 1 lb beef
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chives
- 1/4 C bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Heat grill on high for at least 10 minutes.
Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl until well combined. Divide into 5 equal sized patties, about 3/4 inches thick. Refrigerate until ready to cook.
Place patties on well-oiled, preheated grill. Cook about 4-5 minutes on each side or until burgers reached desired doneness (at least 160 degrees F).
Place burgers on toasted buns and top with your favorite toppings.
