Parmesan Crusted Chicken

This is one of my favorite chicken recipes. It’s simple, and very versatile. It tastes good enough to serve as a main dish, or it also pairs well with pasta or salad. You can even use chicken tenders to make chicken strips that your children will love.

Parmesan Crusted Chicken

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 Tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 C Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 C panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 C flour
  • 1 Tbs Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 C milk
  • Kosher salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, zested

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix 1 cup of the flour with the bread crumbs, lemon zest, parmesan cheese, and seasonings and pour into a 9X13 inch baking dish. Create a breading station by placing the remaining flour into a shallow dish (such as a pie plate) and pouring the milk into another shallow dish. Dredge each chicken breast in the plain flour, then the milk, and then the panko breading mixture. Set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Place the breaded chicken into the pan. Cook on medium heat 2-3 minutes until golden, and then flip and cook the other side until golden. Transfer the pan (if oven safe) directly to the oven until the chicken is cooked through. If your pan is not oven safe, transfer the chicken to a baking dish and place in the 350 degree oven until the chicken is cooked through.

Bake 30 – 35 mins? Is that correct?

    • Recipes says:

It depends on the thickness of the chicken – when in doubt, use a meat thermometer. The USDA recommends cooking all poultry to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
